Privacy Policy
Effective August 28, 2026 · Data controller: EditLM
This Privacy Policy explains how EditLM (“EditLM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you use our website, conversion tools, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). It also describes the choices and rights that may be available to you.
1. Information we collect
- Account and eligibility information: your email address, verification and account status, age confirmation, accepted policy version, registration country, region-assessment information, slide balance, and deletion status.
- Your files and conversion information: files you upload, selected slides, conversion preferences, generated PowerPoint files, conversion status, and information needed to create and deliver the output. Your files may contain personal information about you or others.
- Transaction information: package selected, price, currency, transaction identifiers, billing country, and refund or dispute status. Payment providers process your payment credentials; we do not receive your full payment-card or bank-account details.
- Device, usage, and security information: IP address and IP-derived region, authentication and rate-limit events, conversion identifiers, service usage and performance information, provider usage, audit records, and error reports.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact support, submit a privacy request, or otherwise communicate with us.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to create and secure accounts; confirm eligibility; receive files and perform requested conversions; deliver results and support; process purchases, refunds, and payment disputes; prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access; maintain and improve the Service; enforce our Terms and protect legal rights; comply with legal obligations; and communicate about your account, transactions, conversions, security, support, and material policy updates.
3. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process personal information as necessary to perform our contract with you, comply with legal obligations, and pursue legitimate interests such as securing and improving the Service, preventing fraud, and protecting our legal rights. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out. We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
4. AI processing and service providers
To perform a conversion, selected content from your files may be processed by third-party AI and content-processing providers. We also use providers for authentication, database and file storage, hosting, payments, service communications, and operational monitoring. These providers process information on our behalf or, where stated in their terms, for their own limited purposes.
We disclose only the information reasonably necessary for each provider to perform its services and require providers acting on our behalf to handle information under appropriate contractual and confidentiality obligations.
5. How we disclose information
We may disclose personal information to service providers acting on our behalf, professional advisers where necessary, a successor in a business transaction, or authorities when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and do not use your files or extracted slide content for behavioral advertising.
6. International data transfers
EditLM and its providers may process personal information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use recognized transfer safeguards, such as contractual protections, and take additional measures appropriate to the nature of the information and processing.
7. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it, subject to lawful retention requirements.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not upload highly sensitive or regulated information.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
You can delete eligible completed conversions and request account deletion through the Service. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction or deletion of, restriction of or objection to processing of, or a portable copy of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent, appeal our response, or lodge a complaint with your local data-protection or privacy regulator.
To exercise a right, email [email protected]. Describe your request and provide the email address associated with your account. We may verify your identity and authority before acting. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Rights may be subject to lawful exceptions, including where information must be retained to comply with law or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
10. Cookies and communications
We use cookies and similar local storage that are necessary to authenticate users, maintain sessions, remember security-related state, and operate the Service. We do not use these technologies for cross-context behavioral advertising. We send transactional and service communications related to sign-in, conversions, purchases, security, support, and material policy changes. We do not send marketing emails unless we separately provide an opt-in choice.
11. Children
The Service is intended only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or applicable law. We will post the updated Policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice or request renewed consent where required. Material changes apply prospectively unless applicable law permits otherwise.
